We have worked with and can help a wide range of backgrounds, but some are not the right fit.
If you're a Data Professional in the US/Canada who wants to land your next $100k-$200k+ offer.
✅ 1+ years of data experience (or related field) in North America
✅ 3+ years of data experience outside North America
🚫 No data skills yet? This isn’t for you.
IMPORTANT:
Sponsorship needed in Canada => YES (The team is experts or have gone through it themselves)
Sponsorship needed in the USA => NO (Hopefully coming soon, ethically we wouldn’t feel right helping you as we have not gone through your struggles, we suggest to find a mentor that specializes in that there are many of )
A totally fair question.
Here are a few facts:
-DataShip has been running since 2021.
-We’ve worked with 100+ clients and seen 72+ placements into data roles as of Nov 2025.
-Year‑by‑year, while everyone said “the market is bad,” we kept placing people (you’ll see the numbers in the “But the market is bad?” FAQ).
-We have a real team (10-15 as Nov 2025) : mentors with industry experience, a full‑time marketing/sales reps, lead gen team, project manager, automation, etc. This isn’t a one‑guy pop‑up course.
On top of that:
-We record calls and mentor sessions so quality is trackable.
-We don’t promise “instant jobs” or magic hacks. We promise a system + mentorship that, if you follow it, gives you a far better chance at interviews and offers.
-We have clear guarantees (see below) so if you do your part and we don’t hold up our side, you’re protected.
-If you want to sanity‑check us, read/watch the client stories and LinkedIn posts from people we’ve helped. Those are real people, with real names, in real roles.
DataShip is a done‑with‑you mentorship (with options of done‑for‑you option at the Gold level). It’s not “watch some videos and hope.”
Here’s how the 1‑1 support actually works:
- Personal mentor assigned:
- You’re matched with a mentor who’s actually done what you’re trying to do (industry experience, has hit your goal, and/or gone through our system).
- 6 core modules with instant access → You get a private training portal with videos, step-by-step checklists, Trackers, worksheets, and instant feedback covering:
1. Roadmap Assessment
2. Skils & Project Planning
3. Marketing (portfolio/LinkedIn/resume/website/socials)
4. Interview‑getting system
5. Interview Ready Skills
6. Offers/Negotiation + Post Offer
- Step‑by‑step 1‑1 accountability → For each module, your mentor:
- Gives you customized daily/weekly/monthly to‑do checklists
- Reviews your work (scripts, tracker, assets, practice interviews)
- Gives specific feedback and next steps so you’re never guessing
- Gets you unstuck fast if you hit a wall
- How we communicate → You get 1‑1 access via:
- Slack (DMs, async questions, file reviews)
- Asynchronous video / Loom reviews
- Live video calls for strategy & mock interviews
- Voice notes and written feedback on your assets
- Project/task tracking so nothing falls through the cracks
- “How many calls?” → Unlimited unlockable calls (if you do the work)
- There’s no arbitrary “you get 3 calls and good luck.”
- As you complete work and submit it, you unlock the next reviews, mock interviews, and strategy calls.
- If you’re implementing, we’re there with you.
- Post‑placement support
- After you land a role, you get 3 bonus 1‑1 calls over 9 months to help you thrive in the new position (a big reason many clients see ~$15k promotion bumps within the first year).
On your strategy call we’ll go through the exact options and help you decide whether the DWY Silver model or the more DFY Gold model makes the most sense for your goals, timeline, and budget.
You’re not buying “X calls.” You’re buying a system + mentor (and, at Gold, more done‑for‑you help) whose job is to get you from where you are now to your next data role as fast as possible, with clear steps and feedback the entire way—as long as you’re doing your part.
Yes. A big chunk of our clients have full‑time jobs, families, or both and still get great results. The key is using the time you do have on the right things.
Here’s how we think about it:
- We start by assessing your real time + energy, by looking at:
- Work schedule
- Family/caregiver responsibilities
- Current energy/mental bandwidth
Then we build a sustainable weekly timetable around that.
- We cut the stuff that doesn’t move the needle → No more random course hopping or spending hours on applying a night. We strip out low‑value tasks and focus your limited time on:
- High‑leverage networking and outreach
- Portfolio/LinkedIn that actually attracts interviews
- Portfolio/LinkedIn that actually attracts interviews
- Rough time guidelines (you choose the lane)
- 4–5 hours/week: enough to start seeing traction in your first 60–90 days if you’re consistent.
- 10+ hours/week: you’ll move noticeably faster (more interviews, faster offers).
- 20+ hours/week: treat it almost like a “second career” and things compound very quickly.
More time and effort = faster results, but the system is built so people with 2–3 hours per evening can still make real progress—as long as that time is used efficiently.
- Full‑time job? - Great. Having income means less panic and better decisions. We’ll design a plan that fits around your job so you don’t have to “burn it all down” to move forward.
- Family / caregiving? - Totally normal. Many of our wins came from people balancing kids, partners, or caregiving. We’ll be realistic, but you must be willing to protect a small, consistent weekly block of time.
Bottom line: we’ll customize the roadmap to your reality, but it’s not magic. If you can commit focused, consistent time every week, we can help you turn that into interviews and offers.
The short answer: nothing mandatory.
We built DataShip so that you can get results without having to spend extra money on tools or courses if you don’t want to.
- Our core strategies work with free tools (e.g. LinkedIn free vs Premium).
- We give you internal resources for most skills you’ll need: curated practice problems, study plans, interview prep, outreach templates, etc.
- Any paid tools we use day‑to‑day are either:
- Included inside the 1:1 packages, or
- Optional “nice to have,” not “you must buy this to succeed.”
There may be cases where, for your specific situation, we suggest a targeted paid resource (for example: a specific course to close a known skill gap), but that’s the exception, not the rule.
We also understand finances are tight for many people; that’s why the program is designed so that, if you follow the system and do the work, you can land interviews and offers without needing to invest in a bunch of extra stuff on the side
The short answer: it depends on what you need and your timeline.
We have different options based on:
- Your current level
- How fast you want to move
- How much support you want (more DIY vs very high‑touch)
We’ll walk through the options on the call after we understand where you are and where you want to go, just like a doctor doesn’t prescribe before diagnosing.
What I can tell you upfront is what the outcomes look like for clients who do the work.
(If you have 1+ data YoE in Canada/USA or 3+ Data YoE outside of Canada/USA; data last updated: Nov 2025):
- Average time to first interview: 15 days
- Average time to first offer: 121 days (roughly 50% faster than many industry reports)
- Average salary: $108k
- Average negotiation bump: $10k
- Average promotion bump within first year: $15k (With our Unlockable Post-Offer support Bonus)
So when someone:
- Goes from underpaid to a $100k+ role, or
- Negotiates $10k+ more on their offer, or
- Stacks a promotion bump on top of that
…their career‑long ROI usually dwarfs the upfront investment.
That said, this isn’t “swipe your card and get rich.” You’ll still need to execute the system: do the outreach, improve your portfolio, and practice interviews. We help people in very different financial situations find a path that makes sense for them, but we’ll only recommend an option if we genuinely believe it’s a good trade for your situation.
On the call, we'll
- Diagnose your biggest “bug” in the job search
- Map your 60–90 day plan
- Go over the specific program options and investment only if we both feel it’s a fit for your goals and timeline.
We have two guarantees. One is for people who can go all‑in. The second is for people who need more flexibility.
Guarantee 1: Land an offer in ~90 days or don’t pay (for people who fully commit)
If you qualify for this guarantee and fully commit, it’s simple:
If you don’t land an offer in ~90 days, you don’t pay.
To be fair to both sides, there are clear terms. “Fully commit” means:
1. Pay in full within 30 days of starting.
2. Complete all program requirements, including:
- Finishing the core modules we prescribe for you
- Submitting the required assets (resume, LinkedIn, scripts, tracker, interview practice, etc.)
3. Implement feedback and consistently follow the job search system, including:
- Hitting your agreed‑upon weekly activity targets (outreach, applications, networking, practice)
- Showing up to booked calls or giving proper notice
- Communicating with your mentor so we can keep you on track
If you do all of that and still don’t land an offer in ~90 days, you’re protected by the “don’t pay” guarantee for that option.
Important: not everyone can or should choose this path. Life, finances, and time commitments are different. If you can’t realistically commit at that level, that’s exactly why we have Guarantee 2.
Guarantee 2: We work together until you land a role you want (This is our baseline guarantee)
- We do not count “you got some random offer you hate” as success.
- You are not forced to take any offer you don’t want.
- We support you until you accept an offer you’re genuinely happy with and that’s a clear step forward for your career.
In practice, that means:
- We stay in your corner (strategy, interview prep, negotiation) as long as you’re doing your part.
- When offers come in, we:
- Review comp, role, team, and growth path with you
- Help you negotiate
- Help you decide if it’s truly the right move now or if you should keep going
If you’re willing to show up, implement, and communicate, we’ll either:
- Get you to a role you’re excited to accept, or
- If you’re on the 90‑day guarantee path and hit all the terms but don’t land an offer, you don’t pay.
On your strategy call, we’ll tell you:
- Whether you qualify for Guarantee 1
- Which guarantee would apply to you
- Exactly what’s expected on both sides so there are no surprises.
Every job search is different, so we don’t run everyone through the exact same cookie‑cutter plan.
On your strategy call and in onboarding we:
1. Get clear on your exact goal (target title, comp range, markets, and any domain preferences).
2. Audit where you are now (skills/experience, portfolio/LinkedIn, current job search data, realistic time/energy).
3. Build a custom roadmap using our proven system (roadmap → marketing → interview‑getting → interview skills), but tailored to:
- Which roles/companies you target first
- How we position your experience and bullets
- Which networking/portfolio levers we emphasize
- How aggressive your plan is based on your timeline
More specific goals usually mean more focused effort. If you’re willing to put that in, we can align the system to those targets. Over the last 4 years we’ve helped 100+ clients and seen 72+ placements (as of Nov 2025) across a wide range of titles, salaries, and industries, so we know how to adjust the plan to your situation.
We hear this a lot.
First, we don’t expect you to be perfect. We expect you to be coachable.
Inside DataShip we:
- Assess your skills up front (SQL, Python, analytics/ML, case/system design, etc.)
- Help you build a skills + project plan tailored to your target roles (so you’re not randomly grinding LeetCode or Kaggle).
- Give you study plans and resources (free + internal) so you’re not guessing what to practice.
- Run mock interviews (technical + take‑home + system/behavioral) so you can practice in a low‑stakes environment before the real thing.
If your technical base is there but rusty or misaligned with your target roles, we fix that.
If you truly have no data skills yet (e.g. never touched SQL/Python, no basic analytics fundamentals), we’ll tell you honestly that you’re too early for DataShip right now and point you to how to get ready first. We’d rather have you come back qualified than take your money and set you up to fail.
No. But you need to approach it strategically.
We’ve helped:
- People coming from marketing / research/ support / non‑tech into Data roles
- People with 6–12+ month gaps (caregiver, layoffs, moving countries)
- People in their 30s/40s/50s/60s+ who felt like they’d “missed the window”
What changes for you:
- We spend more time on positioning your story – how we frame your past roles, gaps, and transferable skills so they match what hiring managers care about.
- We design projects / portfolio examples that make your previous experience an asset, not a liability.
- We’re realistic about timelines and targeting: fewer “spray and pray” apps, more focused, high‑probability plays.
Is it “too late”?
- If you’re willing to put in real work and be open to a focused plan, no.
- If you want magic without changing anything, yes.
On the call, we’ll look at your actual background and tell you straight whether we think we can get you close enough to your goal that it’s worth doing together.
Totally fair concern. A lot of our clients felt the same way.
A few things to know:
1) You’re not crazy – a lot of coaching is garbage.
About 1/3 of our clients worked with other coaches or programs before DataShip and felt they didn’t get what was promised. You’re not alone in that.
2) This isn’t generic “mindset coaching.” It’s a DWY implementation program.
You’re not just talking about problems on Zoom once a week. You get:
- Concrete worksheets, guides, and checklists
- Fill‑in‑the‑blank scripts, trackers and step-by-step to-do lists
- Reviews and feedback every step of the way
- Done‑with‑you and some done‑for‑you assets so your job search can actually run like a system
3) Mentors have actually done what you’re trying to do.
Our mentors are data professionals who:
- Have worked in the industry
- Faced the same hiring problems you’re facing
- Have gone through our program and/or our internal training
- Have helped place multiple people into real roles
You’re not being handed to a random “coach” who’s never done the thing.
4) We’ll tell you on the call if we’re not the right fit.
On your strategy call, we’ll go through:
- What you’re getting (or not getting) from your current/previous coach
- What you actually need to fix your biggest job search bug
- Whether DataShip can realistically help you hit your goal in the timeframe you want
If we don’t think we can help, we’ll tell you and point you to a better next step.
5) We have guarantees to protect you.
We understand the fear of being burned again. That’s why we have guarantees in place like
- Guarantee #1: Land and offer in 90 days, or don’t pay (As long as you fully commit)
- Guarantee #2: Support until you accept an offer you are happy with, you are not forced to take any offer so if we don’t deliver on what we promise and you do your part, you’re protected.
If you’re willing to be honest about what hasn’t worked for you before, we’ll be honest about whether we’re the right next move.
Yes. A lot of our successful clients started with basically zero network and hated “networking.”
Inside DataShip we:
- Give you step‑by‑step, fill‑in‑the‑blank templates for what to say
- Show you exactly who to reach out to and in what order
- Start with low‑pressure messages that work even if you’re introverted or feel awkward
If you follow the process, you’ll build a meaningful network from scratch and start getting warm referrals organically. Many clients who take this seriously make their investment back in 60–90 days or less – even when they started with no network at all.
You’re right that the market is tougher. You’re wrong if you think that means “no one is getting hired.”
Here’s what we’ve seen inside DataShip while everyone kept saying “the market is bad” (data as of Nov 2025):
2022: “A recession is coming; hiring will freeze.”
→ We placed 10 people, avg time to offer ≈ 3 months.
2023: “The recession is here; no one is hiring.”
→ We placed 17 people, avg time to offer ≈ 5 months.
2024: “Companies aren’t hiring; it’s hopeless.”
→ We placed 22 people, avg time to offer ≈ 4 months.
2025: “The market is too competitive because of layoffs.”
→ We’ve already placed 19 people this year, avg time to offer ≈ 4 months.
So yes, the market is harder and more competitive than it used to be. But companies are still hiring, and people are still landing great offers.
The difference is:
- You can’t rely on “easy apply” anymore.
- You have to market yourself like a product, not just “have skills.”
- You need a system for roadmap → portfolio → job search → interviews, and you must stay consistent.
Our job in DataShip is to give you that system and the support to execute it, so you’re one of the people landing roles despite the market, not one of the people using the market as a reason to stand still.
We love that. Ambitious, driven people usually do the best in DataShip.
But we need to set expectations clearly:
-This is not a get‑rich‑quick scheme.
If you’re expecting to go from 0 interviews to a pile of $100k+ offers in your first month with no recent experience and minimal effort… this isn’t for you.
-This is a serious system + support for serious people.
If you’re willing to:
-Follow a daily job search routine
-Do the outreach and networking (with our templates)
-Upgrade your portfolio and interview skills
-Then the system works very well.
Every client’s timeline and offers are different, but we have a strong track record of helping data professionals in US/Canada reach their comp goals when they put in the work.
On top of that, we have guarantees in place for example,
- Guarantee #1: Land and offer in 90 days, or don’t pay (As long as you fully commit)
- Guarantee #2: Support until you accept an offer you are happy with, you are not forced to take any offer so if we don’t deliver on what we promise and you do your part, you’re protected.
If you want a proven path, are willing to work hard, and care more about real outcomes than overnight fantasies, you’re exactly who this is built for.
You should never feel forced to take an offer you’re unhappy with.
Here’s how we handle it:
- You only take offers you’re happy with or that are a clear step forward .
Our goal isn’t “any job at any cost.” It’s the right next role for your career, comp, and life.
- Guarantee #2 – Support until you accept an offer you’re happy with
We don’t disappear just because you get an offer. We keep supporting you with strategy, interview prep, and negotiations until you accept an offer you’re genuinely happy with.
- We review offers with you before you say yes - When you get an offer, we’ll:
- Walk through the comp, role, team, and growth path
- Talk through trade‑offs (title vs pay vs learning vs lifestyle)
- Help you decide if it’s the best next step
- Help you negotiate if it makes sense to push
- This is personal for us
In his last job search before starting DataShip, Jaret took a role he didn’t really want and ended up hating 40+ hours a week of his life. That’s a big reason we’re so firm on this: we don’t want you stuck in a job you resent just so we can count a “placement.”
If you do the work and follow the system, we’ll stay in your corner until you land an offer you’re genuinely excited to accept.
Short answer: usually no. Waiting is the riskiest move you can make.
Let’s break it down.
1. The one time it makes sense to wait
If you are literally:
- In final round
- At a company you’d 100% accept
- And the decision is coming this week
Then sure: we can push your call a few days and see what happens.
But that’s the exception, not the rule.
2. If you have interviews in the pipeline
This is actually the best time to start.
- We can dive straight into interview prep (behavioral, case/system, technical)
- Increase your chance of converting the interviews you already have
- And set up your system so this isn’t the last interview you ever see
Why waste another great opportunity going in with the same skill set and process that hasn’t worked in the past?
3. The math you’re ignoring (best vs worst case)
Roughly how interview funnels work:
- 100–1000 apply
- 27 get screened
- 9 get first‑round interviews
- 3 get to final
- 1 gets an offer
Even if you’re good, you’re fighting at least 66% odds of NOT getting the offer at each major stage. If your interview skills are below average, those odds are worse.
So:
Best case if you start now:
- You pass the current process AND
- We use the waiting time between rounds/responses to build your system, line up more interviews, and put you in a position to get multiple offers (which also gives you leverage to negotiate $10k–$20k more).
Worst case if you start now:
- You miss on this round (happens all the time) BUT
- While companies take 2–4 weeks to get back to you, we’re already fixing your bugs and building more pipeline so this isn’t “all or nothing.”
Worst case if you wait:
- You fail the interview
- Weeks go by
- When you come back, we may be full and you’re back to zero momentum.
4. Real capacity
To keep results high, we cap how many new job‑searchers we take:
- Roughly 5 new clients per month or until we’re full
- When spots are full, it’s waitlist, and new spaces usually don’t open for ~90 days
So if you wait, fail the current interview, and then reach out, there is a real chance we can’t take you until the next availability window. That’s 3 more months gone.
5. We’re set up for urgency
If you’ve got interviews coming up, tell us on the call. The team is trained to:
- Prioritize urgent interview prep
- Support you outside normal hours when needed
- Make sure you’re not walking into a high‑stakes interview underprepared
If you pass, we help you get closer to the offer.
If you don’t, we use that time to make sure it’s the last time you’re in that position.
If you’re already in motion, this is exactly when you should get help. Waiting is just betting your future on a funnel that statistically fails most people, with zero backup plan.
